Many always ask, "What did Stephen Speilberg do in filming "Back to the Future"? Why is the director's name not Stephen Speilberg?". Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale often credited Speilberg, who is said to be an important figure behind the filmography of Back to the Future. Speilberg believed in the idea and ability of director Robert Zemeckis, a young filmmaker who had only bagged three films in his filmography.

This film had a lot of influence on popular culture in the 1980s, which is still known today. Back to the Future is the first film in a successful trilogy that has become a lucrative franchise in various media.

Casio watch marketing strategy

One of the main reasons for Casio's success is the quality of its products. Casio's success with digital quartz watches led to the development of its G-Shock range of tough, durable watches, which became the precursor for modern digital watches.

By around the1980s, Casio was already beginning to revolutionise marketing by having their watches appear in films like Back to the Future and the James Bond franchise.

*Fun fact:

In the beginning sot of Back to the future (1985), there are various clocks shown in a room. Amongst all of the clock, I believe you all must've remember the clock with a man hanging in the clock hand. (*yes, Like the on in our homepage.. :D)

The Safety Last! Clock (an homage to silent film star Harold Lloyd dangling from a huge clock, much like Christopher Lloyd's Doc does at the end of the film) is also featured.

According to The Hollywood Report, Zemeckis and Gale ordered various spesific types of clocks for the filming props. When they were asked about the clock with a man hanging,

“We knew we had to feature that,” Gale says.

Casio calculator watch: Back to the Future Trilogy (1985 - 1990)

In this article, we are going to break down into 3 parts as there are 3 types Casio calculator watch that is found in different scenes in the movie trilogy.

Believe it or not, Doc Brown, starred by Christopher Lloyd, was always famous for his Seiko A826. Apparently, In Back to the future Part 1(1985), on his right hand, doc was wearing his trusted Seiko A826.

and at the same time, during the Delorean time travel test scene, Doc Brown was seen wearing a Casio Armitron Wrist Comp 101 calculator watch on his left wrist. [which we will get into that later ;) ]

And Did you now, apparently the Casio Calculator watch worn by Marty Mcfly in the first Back to the Future movie, was different from the second and third one? It is is still a Casio but, just a different model. Without Delay, Let's Continue <3

Back to the Future (1985): Casio CA53W & Casio Armitron Wrist Comp 101

In 1985, Marty McFly, starred by Michael J. Fox, was a teenager who lived in a broken home. His father was always bullied by Biff Tannen, his boss, who was also a former schoolmate. His mother is an alcoholic with excess weight. Meanwhile, his two older siblings are people who don't socialize much. As a guitarist, Marty was disappointed when his band did not pass the auditions.

That night Marty meets Doc in a mall parking lot to test his latest invention, namely the time machine in the form of a DeLorean car. As he was about to try it, Doc was shot by Libyan terrorists for stealing plutonium from them to fuel his engine. Marty steps on the gas and travels to November 5, 1955, a historic day for Doc.

In the first Back to the Future movie, Marty McFly wore a Casio CA-53W calculator watch. You can see Marty and his Calculator watch in the scene where Marty McFly is trying a huge speaker with his electric guitar, and Marty gets hit with the sound wave and has the bookshelf fall against him.

In the other hand, doc Brown wore a Casio Armitron Wrist Comp 101 Calculator watch which you get to see it during the first Delorean time travel test scene.

Back to the Future - Part 2 (1989): Casio CA-50 calculator watch

After visiting in 2015, Marty McFly must repeat his visit to 1955 to prevent catastrophic changes in 1985 without disrupting the events of his first successful visit. Back to the Future Part II is the answer to the first film's success, where this time, Robert Zemeckis offers a more complicated story.

Featuring many breakthroughs in the realm of special effects, the film, released on November 22, 1989, was shot back-to-back with the third film, released the following year.

This time in the 2nd part of the Back to the Future movie, Marty McFly wore a Casio CA-50 calculator watch. You can see Marty and his Calculator watch in many of his close-up scenes.

Back to the Future - Part 3 (1990): Casio CA-50 calculator watch

Marty McFly had to force Doc in 1955 to be able to travel back in time to 1885 to save the future Doc who was trapped in the American Old West era full of cowboys and fell in love with a teacher. Can Marty convince Doc to go back with him to 1985?

Back to the Future Part III is a sci-fi comedy film that closes the adventure trilogy of Marty McFly in travelling through time. Slightly different, this time, the old western theme is used as the background story, giving a slightly different feel from the previous two films. Still directed by Robert Zemeckis and produced by Steven Spielberg, this film was shot simultaneously with the second film.

In the 3rd franchise (also the last of the trilogy) of the Back to the Future movie, Marty McFly also wore a Casio CA-50 calculator watch. You can see Marty and his Calculator watch in the scene where Doc Brown is reading the letter given by Marty. The following image is the only scene in the movie where you see Marty McFly with the Casio CA-50. Marty never wore the watch when he was in the Wild West.

What is odd about the beginning scene is, in the first 5 minutes, Marty does not wear any watch. And suddenly, in the 10-minute+ of the movie, you can see Marty wearing the Casio CA-50. But Still, it's really cool to get a glimpse of the Casio CA-50 in the movie. :D

The Casio CA50 Calculator Watch

The Casio CA50 was the world's first waterproof calculator watch and the successor to Casio CA-53W. Although the Casio CA-50 is now discontinued, In the 1980s, the Casio CA-50 was very popular that even the rock band Sting wore it on the cover of "The Police" Album! It comes in 2 varieties.
