John Wick's Watch: Carl F. Bucherer Manero AutoDate Watch

For those who have followed the John Wick franchise, you must be familiar with the world created by Chad Stahelski and, of course, with the main character, John Wick, starred by actor Keanu Reeves. Despite John Wick's wildness in killing people, it turns out that they, the assassins, have unwritten rules that need to be obeyed.

Each film explores the lore of the broader world of John Wick. This makes the audience try to find out what the mechanics of the rules of these payment killers are like.

Movie summary

The first John Wick begins by introducing our main character, Baba Yaga. John was not introduced concisely, and we are only presented that he is a powerful and feared person in the world of assassins.

In John Wick: Chapter 3, the background of John Wick itself is revealed a little. Even though it's not explained clearly, the audience can conclude that John was raised by The Director (Anjelica Huston), the leader of Ruska Roma. She trained orphans to become assassins, and John Wick was the only successful student.

John Wick, whose real name is Jardani Jovonovich, has built his reputation over the years until he was given the nickname Baba Yaga. This film shows that all assassins know John Wick. However, one day he fell in love with a woman named Helen and decided to leave his current life.

To get out of the world of assassins, he must complete an 'impossible' mission. As of now, we don't know what this specific "mission" John completed, but we are sure it involved killing many people. And in the end, John achieved his freedom and lived happily with Helen. Unfortunately, he did not enjoy it for long because Helen soon passed away due to sickness, and he had to return to the world of assassins. This is where John Wick first begins.

John Wick Fun Facts

I believe everyone has seen one of the most popular John Wick movie poster. Apparently, Chad Stahelski is a big fan of silent movie actors such as Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd. The John Wick: chapter 2 poster is an inspiration based on Harold Lloyd's movie Two-Gun Gussie (1918).

Plus, In the beginning of John Wick 2, Buster Keaton's Sherlock Jr (1924) scene is shown on top of the building.

And it doesn't stop there, in the beginning of John Wick 3: Parabellum, Buster Keaton did a cameo (AGAIN!.. o(^n^)o). 3 of Buster's iconic scene from his movie Cops (1922) was played in the circular building on behind John.

Review: Carl F. Bucherer Manero AutoDate Ref.00.10908.08.13.01watch

Fashions come and go, but classic designs stand the test of time. In the 1960s, simple watches with smaller dials set new standards which remain hugely important for today's timepieces.

The Manero AutoDate from Carl F. Bucherer is a great example of how the design features of the 1920s are being revived. This watch has a classic, unfussy design that emphasizes its functionality. The timepiece shows the essentials at a glance: the simple yet elegant time display, The silver dial with 2 incorporated polishing, and the date indicator that is located at 3 o'clock. It has a diameter of 38 mm with a CFB 1965 automatic movement which has an amazing power reserve of 42 hours.

When the watch appears in the film, John Wick is wearing it on the inside of his wrist. To protect it from damage and because he has such a busy schedule with so many things he has to do that involve weapons and attacks. Although the watch is equipped with a sapphire crystal, it can still get damaged by accidentally falling down or when dodging an attack. Especially for somebody as active as John Wick, It is amazing how he can keep wearing the watch from the beginning of the franchise till the recent John Wick 4. Believe it or not, John Wick is also the man who makes Pencils really cool.
